Summary
The Actuarial Intern is responsible for supporting the overall control environment operations and Actuarial team.
What you will be responsible for:
Assisting the Finance Actuary in carrying out valuations of insurance liabilities;
Maintaining and developing the Data Management Office / Actuarial dataset and assist with the maintenance and enhancement of IBNR and case-based reserving models;
Assisting in the preparation of policy, arrears/claims and expnese data for use in IFRS 17 actuarial models;
Working with internal and external actuaries/consultants in development models required for Genworth's IFRS reporting;
Maintaining documentation for major assumptions and conclusions reached as a result of actuarial valuation and projection processes;
Reviewing work conducted by Genworth's external actuarial consultants;
Performing ad-hoc analysis;
Adhere to the compliance obligations relevant to the position; perform duties in an ethical, lawful and safe manner; undertake training as directed by the Compliance Leader; report and escalate compliance concerns, issues and failures; and disclose potential conflicts of interest.
The knowledge and skills you will bring to the role:
At least two years of university education with a distinction average
Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Actuarial Studies
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, some aptitude in statistical languages
Ability to work 20 hours per week, with flexibility to work more hours during university holidays
