The Hospital
With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff, The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) provides secondary and tertiary care to children and young people across the northern and western suburbs; specialist paediatric healthcare to the children of Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and parts of South Australia; and is the designated state-wide provider of services including paediatric trauma, rehabilitation and forensic medicine. As a quaternary centre for complex cardiac surgery and organ transplantation, the RCH cares for the sickest children from around Australia.
With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 6000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.
Medical Workforce Unit
The Medical Workforce Unit (MWU) co-ordinates the recruitment and appointment of over 300 Junior Medical Staff (JMS) positions annually. JMS include Junior Resident Medical Officers (JRMOs), Senior Resident Medical Officers (SRMOs), Registrars and Fellows, working both onsite and rotating to and from other Victorian hospitals. MWU provides support, advice and guidance to JMS regarding Award conditions and entitlements throughout the duration of their employment at RCH.
The Role
This role is responsible for the management and delivery of MWU operational requirements relating to employment services and processes across the organisation. Reporting to the Executive Director, Medical Services and Clinical Governance this role working closely with a range of business units in order to effectively support all Junior Medical Staff (JMS) and departments throughout the employment life cycle. This role works closely with many external agencies to ensure the efficient and appropriate appointment and allocation of junior doctors from local and international training backgrounds.
To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate your ability to interpret and apply relevant policies, procedures and reference documents. You will be responsive and flexible to the needs of stakeholders, whilst providing practical solutions as required. You will be comfortable managing a small team, and will maintain oversight of the operational functions whilst prioritising tasks and activities as required. You will have well developed verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrate confidence liaising with staff at all levels.
This role is available to internal RCH employees only, and is a fixed term secondment from November 4th 2019 – February 28th, 2020. The role is part time, working 48 hours per fortnight (3 days per week).
