Cyrenian House is a leading not-for-profit non-government organisation that has been operating within the alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment sector since 1981. Cyrenian House provides a wide range of high quality treatment services that make a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of people affected by alcohol and other drugs.
The Aboriginal Family Support Worker will provide education and support to Aboriginal men and their families affected by alcohol and other drugs issues. This role will offer individual, couples and family counselling and will provide outreach services to the consumer group. The Aboriginal Family Support Worker will also be required to develop relationships with the local Aboriginal community and contribute to culturally secure training across the organisation.

This position is part-time (45 hours per fortnight) on a fixed term contract until 30th June 2021. This position is located at North Metro Community Alcohol and Drug Service based at Joondalup. As this is an outreach role some travelling will be involved.
To be successful in this role you will require the following key attributes:
Identify as a Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander male
Possess a Certificate III in Community Services and AOD and / or experience in working with Indigenous people in an AOD service.
Possess a sound knowledge of alcohol and other drug issues impacting on Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people.
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal.
Possess demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Take an active role in Continuous Quality Improvement.
Demonstrated and well developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
Possess a current National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check and First Aid Certificate.
Current driver’s License and reliable vehicle
