Aboriginal Caseworker – Intensive Family Preservation

About the role This is a contract opportunity until June 2025 (likely extension) and will be based in Dubbo with some outreach work to Wellington and Narromine. Flexibility for this role to work part-time (28 hours) or full-time (35 hours) and work across 4 or 5 days each week. We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Therapeutic Caseworker to join our Intensive Family Preservation Casework Team in Dubbo. This role is responsible for providing assessment and intensive case management in line with the Wraparound service model to children, youth, and families who are at risk of escalation within the child protection system. Maintaining compliance and professional quality documentation is essential to ensure outcomes for Family Preservation.
About you in the role Manage a caseload of up to 5 families with a "high or very high" risk assessment. Work with families to upskill and keep their children at home safely. Provide parents with education and tools to mitigate risk and have better outcomes for their kids. Fast intensive program case management (usually up to 6 months) where you will attend home visits at least 2-3 times/week. About You This is an identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. All applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. Aboriginality is a genuine qualification authorized under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination ACT 1977. Provide evidence of Aboriginal identity and be able to demonstrate the ability to work effectively with Aboriginal peoples and communities. Strong advocate for children, young people, and families. Collaborative team player. Excellent communication (written and verbal) and conflict resolution skills. Good understanding of cultural practice. Ability to work under pressure. Good record keeping and time management with the ability to balance this with face-to-face casework. Must hold a current WWCC and driver's license and willingness to transport families, children, and young people.
