About the Role In this role, you will play a pivotal part in crafting and implementing cultural support plans for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island children and young people in Out-of-Home Care.
Working collaboratively with the children, young people, and our multidisciplinary team, you will ensure that their cultural identities are nurtured and celebrated.
Your communication and networking skills will be crucial in building strong partnerships while you work closely with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to ensure that the goals identified in cultural support plans are effectively implemented.
This position is being offered as Full-Time and is based at our office in Townsville.
Key Responsibilities Assist in the development and delivery of culturally enriching support plans for children and youth in out-of-home care, partnering closely with the young individuals and a diverse team of professionals.
Foster strong relationships with relevant stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the goals identified in cultural support plans.
Maintain open channels of communication to promptly address and report any potential risks associated with goal implementation.
Take proactive measures to ensure Life Without Barriers (LWB) consistently attains 100% compliance with cultural support plans.
When necessary, develop, deliver, and support Cultural Awareness programs, activities, and training initiatives.
Advocate for, endorse, and oversee LWB's adherence to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Placement Principles and related standards.
Skills & Experience Experience working in child protection and with children in out-of-home care.
Demonstrated ability to work with individuals, families, and communities from a strength-based, culturally appropriate perspective.
Extensive knowledge of issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities, and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Experience in the creation and implementation of Cultural Awareness programs, activities, and/or training initiatives.
Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including peers, employees, external organisations, funding bodies, and government agencies.
Demonstrated written communication skills for the creation of reports, correspondence, and other material.
Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Science, Community Development, Social Work, or related discipline, and/or demonstrated knowledge and experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities.
Effective time management skills with a track record of delivering high-quality results amidst competing priorities.
Familiarity with relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks within your area of responsibility.
Current Driver's Licence.
