We are currently assisting the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to recruit multiple
Assistant Director - EL1 Actuary Data Scientist
for their Scheme Forecasting and Effectiveness Branch. The Branch provides continuous monitoring of financial sustainability pressures within the Scheme and plays a key role in measuring outcomes and informs the development of the Agency's Future Outcomes framework.
The Assistant Director role is a leadership position and is responsible for actively managing key internal and external stakeholder relationships and may be required to represent and negotiate on behalf of the NDIA to advance the NDIA's interests across a range of forums.
Responsibilities Include:
Providing oversight, leadership/management and responsibility for deliverables of data analysis, policy proposals/briefs, managing key stakeholders as the assistant director.
Producing and communicating detailed technical, professional and policy advice in relation to complex problems to internal and external stakeholders.
Researching and implementing innovative techniques and inter-disciplinary methods that solve business issues.
Designing actuarial, statistical and mathematical models to undertake analytical work that responds to business issues, including actuarial monitoring and analyses, data tabulations, scheme projects, and cost benefit analyses.
Working across teams, building relationships within ADA and other stakeholders including Agency Policy Branch, Home and Living, Legal teams, Service Design, etc.
Effectively communicating (verbally and in writing) and presenting the outcomes of work undertaken, tailored to context and stakeholder.
Requirements:
5+ years of Actuarial or Data Analytics/Science experience supporting Government policy development.
Experience managing a team (5+).
Proficient in SAS, SQL or R programming including data manipulation and analysis.
Strong understanding of statistical modelling techniques (including GLM & GBMs).
Australian Citizenship.
***This is a 12 months daily rate contract opportunity (2 x 12 months extension). Candidates must be based in either Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Geelong, Adelaide or Brisbane. Daily rate will depend on candidate's experience which will be determined by the NDIA.***
