The opportunity to join a growing, independent, and vibrant multi-award winning studio based in Surry Hills, SydneyThe satisfaction to problem solve for major international film, episodic and commercial projectsWork with a global team of talented artists, producers and techniciansCompetitive remuneration package with flexible hours and work model Work closely with CG Supervisors and VFX Supervisors to determine the best approach to solving CG challenges and developing the final lookDesign and create the lighting and the look of computer generated objects and scenesCreate final CG scene assembly, lighting and rendering of complex shotsCreate lighting set ups and/or work within current set upsCreate efficient rendering setups in order to optimise render farm usageStay on schedule and meet set deadlines while maintaining the highest level of work qualityAbility to build and maintain complex shading networks with artist usability and user-interface support in mindAbility to work and communicate with texture and groom artists to get the best possible resultsMentor Junior Artists within the Lighting/Look Dev team when needed Lighting and Rendering experience within a VFX environment Broad understanding of modern shading models and in-depth understanding of PBR Previous experience performing shot LookDev and Lighting tasks Thorough understanding of the VFX pipeline from modelling through animation, texturing, rendering and compositing The ability to write plug-ins, set-up sequences, debug simulations and write shaders with proficiency The ability to work with minimal supervision to complete a shot The ability to pick-up new techniques and learn new software quickly Knowledge of Python is essential, knowledge of Maya, Houdini and Redshift preferred The ability to prioritise tasks, manage time, provide accurate time estimates on shot task completion Excellent listening and communication skills, able to receive direction and criticism Excellent presentation/communication skills in dailies/shot reviews The ability to work collaboratively within a team environment The ability and willingness to help and teach mid to junior-level artists Deep understanding of real world materials Understanding of energy conservation principles Deep understanding of Physically based rendering and shader models
